Berry Nut Porridge
Warming, satisfying and nutrient dense. A good option for breakfast at any time of year. Adding nut butter and berries to porridge gives an extra nutrient punch. The purple colour in blueberries and blackberries in due to flavonoids that are supportive to cardiovascular health. Fibre in oats help reduce cholesterol absorption into the bloodstream so this is an all round a heart healthy breakfast.
Ingredients
- 35g oats (gluten free if required)
- 225g almond or oat milk
- 2 tablespoons fruit puree (blended mixed berries)
- 1 dessertspoon peanut butter
- Handful of pumpkin seeds
Method
- Place oats and milk in saucepan and cook over a low heat until porridge to the desired consistency
- Stir in peanut butter and fruit puree
- Place in bowl and top with pumpkin seeds or other nuts & seeds
