I use Essential Oils to support health alongside nutrition and lifestyle guidance.
What are essential oils?
Why they are present in plants
How they enter human cells

Essential oils are aromatic compounds of plants that comprise of hundreds of chemical constituents. It is the combination of these chemical constituents that provides the plants with their distinctive healing properties.
Essential oils provide protection to plants. For example the melaleuca tree (Tea Tree) contains the constituents a-& y- terpinenes that are naturally antiseptic, antibacterial, anti fungal, and analgesic, protecting the tree and allowing it to survive in hot, humid, swampy conditions. The extracted essential oils provide us with the same anti-microbial benefits.
Because the molecular size of the active compounds in essential oils are small they are able to easily pass through the layers of the skin and be absorbed into the bloodstream. They are also able to cross the blood-brain barrier and enter cells.

The benefits of essential oils and their use to support health is supported by scientific evidence and is a wonderful way to support health and lifestyle naturally. They can be used to support physical, mental and emotional health. As well as being used to directly support our health they can be used within the home as an alternative to chemical cleaning products, air fresheners and personal care products.
The sourcing of essential oils is very important. Many are extracted from the plants through chemical processes or solvents. Purity is key. You only want to use the purest of products that have been extracted by steam-distillation or cold pressing, have nothing else added or have been diluted and have been rigoursly tested to ensure their chemical structure remains unchanged through the extraction process.
